See you soon Lou
Tomorrow is the first day of our dental hygienist Louise Syrett’s maternity leave. I’m sure that you will join all of us in wishing her well for this next stage in her life. We are of course going to miss her but she will be back. Rachel Maxwell will be covering the days that Lou would normally be working.
Many of you will know Louise, but perhaps fewer of you will know that she started her time here at YPD as a dental nurse and treatment coordinator. She was always determined to become a dental hygienist, and with our blessing she left us to go to University in my adopted hometown of Bristol. Two years ago she settled back in Carlisle and I'm delighted that she did so; she's returned as a mature and articulate professional and its been a delight to see her grow in confidence. Not that she lacked it in the first place :-)
Lou has led our Fast Track treatment service for patients with advanced periodontal disease over the last 18 months, and this will continue in her absence under Rachel’s care. I’m proud to say we are now one of the few practices in the north with more hygiene and periodontal hours of treatment per week than hours spent filling teeth. In addition we are seeing demonstrable results in the treatment of gum disease and should see more people keeping more teeth for longer. Which if you think about it, is the way it should be.
Enjoy your time Lou!
