Back to work - in a new way

Along with an estimated 35% of dental practices in England, I'm delighted to say that York Place Dental opened on Monday for face to face appointments. It took a huge amount of work, sandwiched into a very short period of time (thanks Boris) to make it happen. I would like to thank my brilliant team for moving mountains to make it happen. If your dental practice didn't open, please be patient with them - it's a complex process and getting the right money, kit and training in place in such a short time is not easy. No practice wants to be shut and we are all very conscious of the need to be there for our patients.

We can now see those wonderful patients who have so patiently waited to have their broken teeth, braces, fillings and so on fixed. People no longer have to jump through multiple hoops to get an emergency appointment when they're in pain, and they can see the dentist of their choice. This is a massive step forward and it is welcome.

Safety

Because of the persisting high level of virus in the community, we have concentrated on emergencies and simpler treatments involving no drills to start off with, along with patients who are midway though complex treatments. Two days ago (Thursday), we finally passed though the final PPE hurdle and next week we anticipate being able to start procedures involving a drill on a priority basis, building this up as the month progresses.

We currently have a waiting list for patients who require non-urgent treatment. Understandably we will be giving our first attention to those that need us most, but rest assured, we will be getting to you as soon as we can.

Getting in touch

We are currently running with a skeleton staff, all of whom are working "out of position" in footballing terms and feeling their way through what might best be described as a completely new job, in the dark, with goalposts that shift each week. Appointments take longer and as a result we have to see fewer patients a day. We might not be able to answer the phone as quickly as we'd like to but we promise we will get back to you if you leave a message. The best way to get in touch is by email on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Personally, I am reaching out to patients by telephone after hours via phone or Zoom, which has worked brilliantly over the lockdown period and I believe is here to stay. We can often pre diagnose problems and book you in for a single visit for your examination and treatment. Watch out for Virtual Dentistry, Artificial Intelligence, App based communications and much much more!

Thank you

So, its a completely different ballgame, we are back but please be patient - we will be back to "normal" as soon as we can. Thank you to all of our patients who have shown such loyalty and patience - I really appreciate it.

And again in case you've forgotten - watch our video here

Have a great weekend
