New Prescribing Regulations for Cosmetic Treatments from June 2025

At York Place Dental, your safety and trust are at the heart of everything we do. We want to keep you fully informed about recent changes in the regulations that affect how cosmetic treatments like Botox are prescribed and administered.

What's Changing?

Starting 1st June 2025, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) will no longer allow medical professionals to prescribe cosmetic treatments remotely. This means that any prescription for Botox and similar treatments must follow a face-to-face consultation with a qualified prescriber.

These new rules aim to improve patient safety by making sure every treatment plan is based on a thorough, in-person assessment.

What Does This Mean for You?

If you're a current or future patient of ours, nothing changes! - and that's because we've always put your safety first.

Here's how we've been working:

  • All Botox prescriptions are made in person by our experienced prescriber, Dr Richard Hellen.
  • Treatments are administered by Louise Syrett, a fully trained and skilled practitioner.
  • Both Louise and Dr Hellen have completed all the necessary training to prescribe and perform Botox treatments safely and legally.

We operate within a regulated dental practice environment, following strict health and safety standards to protect your wellbeing.

Why Are These Changes Important?

Remote prescribing, while convenient for some, carries risks:

  • Without a physical consultation, it's harder to fully understand your medical history and check if the treatment is suitable.
  • There's an increased chance of complications when a thorough examination isn't possible.
  • Informed consent is more difficult to ensure without face-to-face interaction.

By requiring in-person consultations, these new regulations help guarantee you receive safe, personalised care tailored exactly to you.

Our Commitment to Safe, High-Quality Care

We want you to feel completely confident and comfortable every step of the way. That's why:

  • We only use genuine Botox products, fully licensed for cosmetic use in the UK.
  • All products come directly from reputable pharmaceutical suppliers — no exceptions.
  • We provide clear, honest information about the treatment, including potential risks and expected results.
  • You'll receive ongoing support before, during, and after your treatment.

What You Can Expect at Your Appointment

When you visit us for your Botox consultation or treatment, you can expect:

  • A thorough, face-to-face assessment to discuss your goals and medical history.
  • A personalised treatment plan designed to suit you safely.
  • Friendly, professional care from a team dedicated to your wellbeing.
